Lloyd was the 2nd cousin twice removed of Francis Fox

Not to be confused with Sir Francis Fox (1844-1927) responsible for the 1878 replacement of the train shed at Bristol Temple Meads railway station. (no link to Lloyd Fox uncovered so far!). Interestingly he was responsible for the bridges over theĀ Victoria Falls

  1. Francis Fox was born in Plymouth, second son of Robert Were Fox (1792-1872) and Rachel Cookworthy Prideaux. He was educated at the Friends Schools in Croydon and Sidcot. He was a civil engineer. In July 1946 he joined the staff of Mr I K Brunel as an Assistant Engineer on the South Wales Railway. Among various other jobs, he was appointed Engineer of the Bristol and Exeter Railway from 1854 to 1876. He married Charlotte Monkhouse in Newport, Wales, in 1848. They had seven children.
    He was elected Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers in 1860.
