From: Chronicles of Tonedale, 2 centuries of [Fox] family history
……, it has been needful for our family to obtain a grant with a difference; and, as a consequence, the following armorial bearings (which also appear on the cover of this volume) are now the registered arms of the family.
Ermine : on a chevron azure, three foxes’ heads erased or, within a bordure fleurette of the second ; and on a canton of the same, a drinking cup of the third bearing three fleur-de-lys p.p.v. on the urn, and charged in the centre with a rose gules. The canton was granted to commemorate the descent of the Fox family from a branch of the Crokers of Lineham.
Crest—A fox sejant or, collared fleurettee azure, its paw resting on a fleur-de-lys.
Mono—” Faire sans dire.” (Do without saying)
