Thomas Fox was a prominent Quaker and a partner in the Wellington-based woollen firm of Were & Sons. In 1782, he married the daughter of a partner in the renowned London banking business of Smith, Wright & Gray. Five years later, he established his own business, Fox & Co.

  1. Thomas Fox was born on the 17th January 1754 in Wadebridge, Cornwall and died on 29th April 1821 at Tonedale. He married Sarah Smith on 2nd April 1783 at the Friends Meeting House, Gracechurch Street, London. She was the elder daughter of Thomas Smith, a founder partner of Smith, Wright & Gray, bankers of 21 Lombard Street, London.
